What Percentage of HigherEd Institutions have a LMS?

Have you ever wondered what percentage of HigherEd institutions have a learning management system? We, at LISTedTECH, have. It's a question that we often ask ourselves, especially since we are continuously expanding our coverage. When a new country differs greatly in percentage than the average, we question our tools, our product list, and even if the students have access to technology (phone or PC).

Learning Management System

UNT transitioning from Blackboard to Canvas

UNT has signed a five-year contract with Canvas beginning Sept. 1, 2017. The university has been using Blackboard and previous iterations of the product through various transitions since 1998. While the university planned to pilot both Blackboard Learn Ultra and Canvas with faculty and students during Spring 2017, Blackboard was not ready in time, so only Canvas was piloted. “The type of feedback we’ve gotten from faculty was that virtually every process required fewer clicks,” Pluscht said. “That’s important. You shouldn’t have to spend all your time trying to figure out what buttons to push.”

The University of Minnesota Rochester Selects Portfolium Assessment + Canvas LMS

As UMN Rochester modernized its LMS platform by selecting Canvas by Instructure, the timing was perfect to sync with a Canvas-integrated system to bring assessment data, rubrics, and scoring mechanisms out of siloed databases and into the Canvas ecosystem.

“We selected Portfolium because of its LTI-based assignment sync and grade exchange with Canvas and other learning management systems, and because of how incredibly easy it is for students and faculty to use,” said Norman Clark, Administrative Director of Academic Programs.

Curriculum Management System

Colorado State University, York University, and the University of Utah Choose Kuali Curriculum Management

Three more universities are implementing Kuali Curriculum Management to govern the programs, courses, and alternative learning experiences that support their institutional missions, address the needs of their learners, and satisfy the requirements of multiple accrediting bodies. “We needed a solution with modern functionality that can accommodate new and emerging pedagogy,” said Dr. Patrick J. Burns, Vice President of Information Technology and Dean of Libraries, Colorado State University. Other Kuali Curriculum Management customers, including York University in Toronto and the University of Utah, share similar sentiments about their reasons for choosing Kuali Curriculum Management.
