Collapse of For-Profit Chain Long in the Making

After months of struggling financially and with new restrictions under the Trump administration, Education Corporation of America (ECA), one of the largest credential-granting for-profit operators, said it would close its roughly 70 campuses across the country.

Instructors and support staff at ECA chains now suddenly find themselves out of a job. Students face uncertainty over how to continue their education and deal with debt they took on to attend their programs.

ePortfolio - Lamar Univerity

Lamar University selects Portfolium for Badging, Assessment, and ePortfolios 

Portfolium was chosen by Lamar University to provide a lifelong portfolio of curricular and co-curricular experience to its students. It was also chosen for its assessment tool as a way to perform summative evaluation of a degree program.

This should allow instructors to validate Lamar students’ real-world skills while connecting those artifacts to general education learning outcomes.

The artifacts and competencies demonstrated in these individualized portfolios will be directly searchable by employers.

Wanting to bring its disparate faculty processes onto a unified information system, as well as automate some of the more "nuanced" activities, DePaul University adopted Interfolio, a tool for managing faculty affairs, from hiring, promotion, and tenure to accreditation reporting.
