LMS Coverage - Two-year anniversary!!!

Initially started with only covering the North American market, LISTedTECH (LeT) data expanded with Europe and Oceania and soon will add Latin America. Last week, LeT reached data for 11,000 HigherEd institutions. Above is a viz of the number of institutions per country for which LeT has LMS data.

What Happens to Student Data Privacy When Chinese Firms Acquire U.S. Edtech Companies?

Technology reports coming out of China have raised serious concerns for privacy advocates; especially as Chinese investors are acquiring companies with millions of public school users.

One such acquisition is Edmodo, purchased by Net Dragon earlier this month. Edmodo has switched to an advertising model last year so its purchase could be viewed as a data grab.

Learning Management System - Dickinson College

Transition Away from Moodle Delayed Due to Faculty Resistance

Dickinson College abandoned its plans of converting its current LMS, Moodle, after faculty raised concerns about the change.

Canvas was already being piloted by the Library and Information Services (LIS), but after receiving a number of messages expressing concern about the transition, LIS has withdrawn its request for funding for Canvas.

“From the last faculty meeting,” Ed Webb, Professor of Political Science and International Studies, said, he sensed “that the faculty as a whole had not been well informed about the possibility of this change nor widely consulted.”

2U : Emerson College Launches New Online Master of Science Program in Communication Disorders, Speech@Emerson

Speech@Emerson, a program which offers the same curriculum as the College's highly ranked on-campus master's program, will begin in September 2018 due to a partnership with 2U, a leader in global education technology.

Speech@Emerson students will be taught by Emerson's world-class faculty through weekly live classes and faculty-developed interactive coursework on an online platform that works seamlessly on mobile devices so students can complete their coursework from nearly anywhere.

University of New South Wales

University of New South Wales Teams with Keypath for Online Master's Degrees

The University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia, has chosen Keypath for its online master's degrees. The first degrees created under the partnership will be unveiled next year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
