Otter.ai Announces Otter for Education at Educause
Otter for Education, a version of Otter Voice Notes for universities, is launching in December 2018. Three universities: Tulane University, Western Kentucky University, and UCLA have signed agreements to use Otter Voice Notes in a pilot project.
Otter for Education which allows lecture note-taking, transcription of research interviews, capturing notes from group study sessions as well as processing of public audio data, will be used as an alternative accessibility tool for students.

Athabasca University First Canadian Post-Secondary Institution to Officially Collaborate with Amazon Web Services
Athabasca University has entered into a formal collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services. Together, the two organizations will be designing, implementing and managing cloud education programs which will broaden opportunities for innovative learning experiences.
This collaboration was brought about through the university's Imagine 5-Year Strategic Plan which focuses on being open, flexible and everywhere.

The ease of use of this new tool as well as the time saved and the overall positive experience implementing the system made it so that Oakland University expanded its initial plans to also include several other departments.

Tom Longstaff Named CTO of Carnegie Mellon’s Software Engineering Institute
Tom Longstaff has returned to Carnegie Mellon University’s Software Engineering Institute as chief technology officer.
